Burleigh and Julie Witham

Both Burleigh and Julie have lived in Arizona since 2009, when they moved to Tucson from Maine (where they were natives).Burleigh started riding motorcycles when he was 15 years old! His first bike was a Whizzer. Since then he has had many, many bikes--Hondas, Harleys, and BMWs. They met in 1959 when both were in high school--Julie was a freshman.

Burleigh joined the Army, his first actual assignment was in Maryland. After marrying in 1962, they went to Germany where they spent three years before returning back to Maine. Burleigh worked for an uncle at a Chevy car dealership, eventually retiring from a Paper Mill. Julie worked for Digital Corporation, then eventually became a manager retiring from a convenience store. They have two children, one grandaughter, and one great granddaughter--all of them live in Maine.

Burleigh purchased his first Gold Wing in 1975, a candy apple red, which was #36 off of the assembly line! Since then, he has had seven more Gold Wings: teal, beige, and candy apple red. He currently rides a 2012 1800 and has ridden over 300,000 miles! Julie started riding her own bike in 1968, which was a Honda 180. She gradually stepped up to a Honda 350, Honda 500, Honda 550, and Honda 750. She currently rides a candy apple red Honda Shadow 750 and has ridden over 100,000 miles! Wow, these two like to ride!

In mid 1980 they attended their first motorcycle rally which was an Americade Rally in New York. Since then they have attended several Wing Dings. They joined GWRRA in 1985 and Chapter A in November 2010. They are both working on their Masters (pinned with Steve and Laurie Williams) and enjoy tours on the motorcycle everywhere--since anywhere they ride in Arizona is considered a new place!
