Bill Leach

Bill bought his first bike in June 1961 - it was BMW, his first of four BMWs! He currently rides a GL1800 metallic blue trike which he purchased in September 2005; and he now has 27,000 miles on it.

Bill was active in archery competition when he met his wife, Christine, in November 1979 at a social gathering at the Golden Pins Bowling Alley. They married October 21, 1983, raised a blended family of three boys and two girls, and now have seven grandsons and five granddaughters.

Bill retired from the Arizona Department of Public Safety October 30, 1992 with a total of 33 years in his career. On April 8, 1994 he began working with the Security Department at University Medical Center (UMC) and six months later became the second dog team handler for UMC. He retired fully June 16, 2006. Now he spends his time with both immediate family and extended (GWRRA) family.

Bill joined GWRRA in December 2005 and attended his first Chapter A meeting in May 2006, when invited by our then chapter director, Pablo Alonzo. Bill’s passion is children, and he’s been the Chapter’s Fund Raising Coordinator for Ride For Kids for quite some time. In addition to being one of our new Assistant Chapter Directors, Bill is the Chapter IOY, District IOY until October and Region IOY. Bill will eventually become more involved in the Rider Education Program.

Bill also rides with the American Legion, Blue Knight (Law Enforcement riders), Patriot Guard and Tucson Rodeo Parade Committee.
