Dave and Dee Gormley
|
Dee met Dave (who was living in Colorado) at one of her brother’s class reunions. Dave was there visiting his parents in the small town of Fairfield, Idaho. They married in 1981 in Reno, Nevada. They then moved Dee to Boulder, Colorado, where Dave worked, from Boise, Idaho, where Dee had been living. Dave started riding motorcycles after they married because Dee liked motorcycles; they bought their helmets and took the riding class before buying their bike. They started out riding a Yamaha 750 in 1982 and then shortly thereafter bought a Candy Regal brown GL 1100 Interstate and then got involved in GWRRA in 1983. Dave and Dee moved to Tucson in 1990 from Lafayette, Colorado; Dave transferred with IBM (he was on the ski patrol for 24 years) and Dee worked as an RN in Geriatrics. In 1988 they bought their first (of three) GL 1500. Dave and Dee joined GWRRA Chapter A in 1991. They’ve held several positions; Rider Educator, then Assistant Chapter Director, then Director, then back to Rider Educator. For many, many years Dee has been involved on the phone tree and has been the Sunshine Lady. They were AZ-A COY 1995, District-1996, Region COY 1997, and the Region Couple of the Year Coordinators for five years. Together they have five children and three grandchildren who live in Idaho and Colorado. Dave and Dee now ride a 2005 black cherry GL 1800 which they bought in 2007 - their fifth gold wing! Last year they rode 20,000 miles, for a total of 450,000 miles now. They are planning a great ride on the bike this summer up to Wing Ding and Idaho. |
